Russow KO's Duffee with broken arm
Mike Russow’s late knockout of Todd Duffee at UFC 114 impressed most fans who had watched him take a beating for much of the preceding two and a half rounds. But his win has been made even more impressive by the news that he earned it with a broken arm.
According to medical suspensions imposed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission this week on fighters injured at the weekend’s event, Russow has “a broken left ulna/forearm” and must see an orthopaedic doctor for clearance before returning to competiton.
His opponent Duffee escaped injury but is suspended until July 14th with no contact until June 29th because of the head trauma suffered during the third-round loss, which took him to 1-1 in the UFC heavyweight division.
Other suspensions issued by NSAC are:
Dan Miller: suspended until June 29th with no contact until June 20th due to an upper eyelid laceration.
Diego Sanchez: suspended until June 29th with no contact until June 20th at the earliest, left eye laceration. Must be cleared by an ophthalmologist for a possible right eye corneal abrasion.
Amir Sadollah: suspended until June 29th with no contact until June 20th at a minimum. Requires right hand and right ankle to be x-rayed, suspected fractures. Return must be cleared by an orthopaedic doctor otherwise suspension lasts until November 26th.
Dong Hyun Kim: suspended until June 20th with no contact until June 13th due to a right upper eyelid laceration.
Efrain Escudero: suspended until July 14th with no contact until June 29th, scalp laceration and left eyelid laceration.
Waylon Lowe: suspended until June 29th with no contact until June 20th. Requires chest x-ray, any damage found must be cleared by an orthopaedic doctor otherwise suspension lasts until November 26th.
Luis Cane: suspended until left sinus fracture and nose fracture are cleared by Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist otherwise suspension lasts until November 26th.
