Kenny Florian

Kenny Florian said he wanted a top contender for his first fight at featherweight and it appears he got his wish.
The one-time lightweight will make his debut at 145 pounds in June at UFC 131 against Diego Nunes. The fight card is expected to take place in Vancouver.
Florian announced the fight during Friday night’s edition of ESPN’s MMA Live.
A knee injury sidelined Florian from taking his last scheduled fight in January against Evan Dunham. The time off gave the Boston native some time to contemplate his future, so he decided to drop down and give it a go at featherweight.
While he’s just getting back into training, Florian will work over the next few months to get his weight down before making his official featherweight debut.
He will have a very tough test for his first fight at 145 pounds because Nunes has made big strides in the division, winning his last three fights in a row, including a victory over former featherweight champion
Mike Brown.
Nunes, along with Team Alpha Male fighter
Chad Mendes, have been looked at as the top contenders at 145 pounds. The Brazilian will get a chance to prove his worth when he faces Florian in June.
While no official announcement of UFC 131 has been made, Junior Dos Santos and Brock Lesnar are expected to headline the show.
