Andre Winner meets Nik Lentz at UFC 118
"The Ultimate Fighter 9" finalist Andre Winner (11-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) meets Midwest standout Nik Lentz (18-3-2 MMA, 2-0-1 UFC) on the non-televised portion of UFC 118.Sources close to the event today confirmed the bout with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) and said both fighters have agreed to the contest with bout agreements expected to be finalized shortly.
While not yet officially announced by the organization, UFC 118 takes place Aug. 28 at the TD Garden in Boston, and the night's main card airs on pay-per-view.
Winner, a disciple of Team Rough House in Nottingham, England, most recently took out Rafaello Oliveira by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 21 in March. It was his second consecutive octagon win; he also scored a first-round knockout victory over Roli Delgado at UFC 105 this past November.
The wins reversed a disappointing end to Winner's run on "TUF 9," which saw him defeat Gary Kelly, Santino DeFranco and Cameron Dollar before falling short to Rough House teammate Ross Pearson in the show's finals this past June.
Lentz, meanwhile, earned his second octagon victory alongside Winner on the non-televised portion of UFC Fight Night 21 with a unanimous-decision nod over Rob Emerson.
The victory eased the memory of his prior bout, a protracted ground battle with Thiago Tavares that resulted in a majority draw. Lentz made his octagon debut at UFC 103 with a decision nod over Rafaello Oliveira.
