The only things I can think of is people not rooting for him are all non-fight related.

Are there any other guys in here that like him strictly as an athlete, and not as a sideshow?

Anyone that honestly could give a fuck what he says in interviews to sell ppv, or never watched him pro-wrestle?

I ask because I hate pro-wrestling, but am a huge fan of Brock...due to me actually following college wrestling.

When he made the transition from WWE to MMA, I remember being really excited about, and was talking him up as being a genetic freak with amazingly good wrestling technique on top of a great work ethic, basically saying he was fucking born to do well in MMA, and I was basically mocked for being a WWE fanatic with no idea what mma is.

I ask that here because you see a lot of people not liking him due to his less-than-dignified choice of career outside of college (despite it making him much, much wealthier than anyone that bitches about it online), or his "I'm a douchebag, watch the fuck out of me" routine that he apparently used in his pro-wrestling days (which I do find annoying, since I typically like guys that settle feuds with actual punches, but I also acknowledge a "big mouth" is synonymous with "big payday " in this sport), when I really don't see him being genuinely a bad guy.

There are a lot of guys that dislike him as a fighter because they see his size and strength as an unfair advantage, despite the fact that he works his ass off more than most mma fighters out there. Regardless of great genes, you don't just wake up one day and suddenly weigh 300 solid pounds, you still have to dig deep and work for it, which he clearly does quite frequently.

Yes, he does have physical advantages, but how is his naturally large build and fast muscle development any different than having amazing hand speed?

Look at BJ, Fedor, or belfort...they improved their hands with boxing technique, but they have always had that natural quickness, which is a HUGE advantage in a fight. So, what's the difference? EVERY fighter is going to have some physical attributes that are advantageous for their skill sets in MMA...because as important as skill and experience is in any sport, physicality is almost always a factor in some way, and as such the people that are going to succeed are going to be physically gifted on top of being talented/driven. Physical gifts come in all shapes and sizes, brock's are just easier to spot.

As for thinking less of him for doing pro-wrestling, that should be easily spotted as idiotic to any educated mma fan, since there have been some amazingly talented fighters to come perform in pro-wrestling...Barnett, minowa, sakuraba, shamrock, tito, and basically every single asian fighter that ever fought in pride. It is a very lame form of entertainment, but it isn't something to hold against him. Wrestling is great for MMA, but...very little else. Successful college wrestlers used to have just about 2 options if they want to continue in their sport: Try for the Olympics, or Coach it. Nowadays, MMA is more lucrative and easier to get into, but back then it really wasn't an option. Can't hold getting rich against the guy.

I want the guys that hate brock to do something for me. Look at his workouts/training, his fights (but not his interviews) and interviews with his coaches. Instead of thinking of him as "Brock Lesnar the douchefuck" think of him as "Brock the athlete/fighter" and see if you start hating him slightly less.

I'm not going to pretend that doing so will make fans out of his haters... I know that there are always going to be a lot of guys that don't like him and never will. My brother is one of them. He sees Brock's mouthiness as being somehow perverting the spirit of martial arts (despite A. he's a fan of mir and B. MMA is a sport, not a goddamn religion), and he sees vastly above average athleticism as being an indicator of a dearth of actual skill or akin to cheating, and a lot of people agree with those views.

All I'm saying is that the people that pretend he isn't a great fighter due to him being basically every bad guy from cheesy 80's teen movies rolled into one should try to objectively gauge his relative talent based on...his actual talent, and to quit dismissing his fans as being uneducated or trolls.

...it huhts my feewings.
