Former University of Missouri national wrestling champion Ben Askren (5-0 MMA, 2-0 BFC) will have a home-field advantage when he meets standout Dan Hornbuckle (21-2 MMA, 2-0 BFC) in Bellator Fighting Championships' season-two welterweight tournament finale.

Bellator officials today announced the fight headlines Bellator 22 on June 17 in Kansas City, Mo.

The winner earns top-contender status and meets season-one winner and current Bellator champ Lyman Good this fall during the organization's third season.

The event airs on FOX Sports Net live from the Kansas City Power & Light District.

Other fights today announced for the card include eliminated welterweight tournament competitor Tyler Stinson (17-6 MMA, 0-1 BFC) vs. Omaha-based Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist Leonardo Pecanha (12-6 MMA, 0-0 BFC), NCAA Division I national champion Cole Konrad (3-0 MMA, 1-0 BFC) vs. Kansas City heavyweight John Orr (5-4 MMA, 0-0 BFC), and BodogFIGHT and Smackgirl veteran Lisa Ward (12-5 MMA, 0-0 BFC) vs. fellow 115-pounder Tammie Schneider (3-9 MMA, 0-1 BFC).

"We're thrilled to be coming back to Kansas City for another event at the Power & Light District," Bellator founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney stated. "Our first trip to the venue back in late April produced one of the most magical events we've ever been a part of. Kansas City is a great fight town with great fans, and the Power & Light District is a one-of-a-kind venue. We can't wait to come back on June 17 with a main-event fight featuring one of the top welterweights in the world, Dan Hornbuckle, and another star on the rise in Ben Askren."

Askren, a two-time NCAA Division I national champ and four-time All-American who competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics, advanced to the finale after two victories over UFC veteran Ryan Thomas. The first one ended via first-round technical submission but was mired in controversy when Thomas, who was trapped in a choke, quickly rose to his feet and protested the stoppage. Thomas, though, got his rematch as a substitute for Jim Wallhead (who was grounded in Europe due to volcanic ash clouds) but suffered a decisive unanimous-decision loss.

Askren now puts his undefeated record on the line against Honrbuckle, who's six-fight win streak and current 19-1 run have earned him worldwide top-10 ranking consideration. The World Victory Road vet advanced to the finale with submission wins over Stinson and Steve Carl. After averaging six fights per year since his 2006 pro debut, he fights for the third time in 2010.
