The first-ever Massachusetts mixed-martial-arts event is one step closer to fruition with weigh-ins officially complete for tonight's "Moosin MMA: God of Martial Arts" event.

The event, which features a host of notables, takes place at the DCU Center in Worcester and airs on high-definition pay-per-view for $29.95.

Headliner and former UFC champion Tim Sylvia weighed 305 pounds for his super-heavyweight bout with five-time World's Strongest Man champion Mariusz Pudzianowski, who weighed 273 pounds.

Sylvia (25-6) returns to competition for the first time since his first-round TKO of Jason Riley at Adrenaline MMA IV in September. Prior to the fight, which came at super heavyweight, Sylvia had posted three consecutive losses, which included a UFC defeat to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, an Affliction loss to Fedor Emelianenko, and a disappointing nine-second knockout defeat to 48-year-old boxer Ray Mercer at Adrenaline MMA III.

Pudzianowski (2-0), meanwhile, looks to continue his early-career success after a pair of wins with the KSW organization in his native Poland. The strong man followed up an impressive submission win over Marcin Najman in December with a lackluster decision victory over Yusuke Kawaguchi earlier this month. Questions remain about his conditioning and ability to hang with Sylvia into later rounds.

With the Boston area's big Polish community, Pudzianowski has been a big draw for the event, which is promoted by Corey Fischer and boxer/MMA fighter Eric "Butterbean" Esch. However, oddsmakers have tapped Pudzianowski a 2-to-1 underdog.

Other notables from the card include journeyman Travis Wiuff, former UFC middleweight contender and "The Ultimate Fighrer 4" winner Travis Lutter, UFC/EliteXC vet Yves Edwards, and top female fighters Tara LaRosa and Roxy Modafferi.
